Common Reasons Why Ovens Make Squeaky Noises

1. Heating Element Expansion

Electric heating elements are designed to expand as they heat and contract as they cool. If the element is not held tightly or has shifted, it can squeak as the metal rubs against brackets or housing. This is one of the most common causes.

When it’s harmless:

• Noise only happens during heating or cooling
• Oven heats properly
• No burning smell

When it needs service:

• The squeak is constant
• Heat is uneven
• Mounts or brackets are loose

2. Internal or Convection Fan Motor

Many newer ovens, especially Samsung models, include:

• Cooling fans (to protect electronics)
• Convection fans (to circulate heat)

If a fan motor becomes dry, unbalanced, or rubs against its casing, you’ll hear repetitive squeaks or squeals.

Signs the fan needs inspection:

On gas ovens, the ignition system can create noises when there is:
